2024 - 2025 DMHA Registration Information
Didsbury Minor Hockey Association is a society of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Association (RMAA).
WHAT DO YOUR FEES INCLUDE?
Prime Ice Time
Players have two hours of practice per week, plus games on weekends and a home tournament, totalling over 110 hours of ice time for the season. The Didsbury Minor Hockey Association pays $110 per hour for ice use, spending over $40,000 for the 2022/2023 season.
Quality Coaching
Our coaching staff is required to obtain/provide the following documents:
- Clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Respect in Sport - Activity Leader Certification
- Coach 1/2 Qualifications (12 module online course with 5.5 hour in-person class where they learn skill development and progressions, practice delivery and more)
Power Skating & Skill Development
At Didsbury Minor Hockey, we prioritize our members' development by arranging for skilled external coaches to provide training in essential areas such as Power Skating, Goalie Skills, Referee Training, and more. Your child will have the opportunity to learn alongside their peers and teammates, receiving top-notch instruction.

Our Pre-Hockey program is designed for boys and girls aged 3-4 years who are still in the process of learning to skate. This program provides children with an opportunity to experience and learn the sport of hockey at a young age. It is a parent-coached program, and we welcome all parents who are interested in assisting with coaching to get in touch with our Coach in Chief. At Didsbury Minor Hockey, we are committed to providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment for all our young players to learn and grow in their love for the game.
Our Pre-Hockey group is dedicated to focusing on learning and mastering the fundamentals of skating and hockey. There are no scheduled league games or tournaments for this level.
The Pre-Hockey season runs from November to March and has two 1-hour practices per week.

Our U7 Division (also known as Tyke/Timbits/Initiation) are for boys and girls aged 5-6 years. The main focus of these teams is to develop the players' skills and teach them the basics of gameplay. This group proudly represents Didsbury Minor Hockey in the 2&27 League, competing with other teams in Mountain View County, including Crossfield, Cremona, Carstairs, Olds, Sundre and Kneehill. U7 games are played at half-ice, with no score keeping or penalties.
The U7 season runs from October to March with two 1-hour practices per week and plays one to two games (home/away) on weekends within Mountain View County. Games are played at half-ice with no scorekeeping or penalties. Didsbury Minor Hockey also hosts a one-day tournament each year in February, on Family Day.
U7 plays within the 2&27 League. At the end of each season, the 2&27 League rotates between communities to host the year-end tournament. For the 2024/2025 season, the tournament is being hosted by Cremona Minor Hockey Association.

Our U9 Division (also known as Novice) are for boys and girls aged 7-8. This level of hockey aims to enhance their skating skills, puck handling, and game play concepts. In this program, players engage in weekly Power-Skating practice that emphasizes the significance of agility and speed on the ice. The U9 division is part of the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL) and play other teams from central Alberta, occasionally traveling approximately 1-1.5 hours (at the most) for game play.
The U9 season runs from the beginning of October with Conditioning Camp and Evaluations, and completes at the end of March. U9 teams have two 1-hour practices per week with one to two games (home/away) on weekends. Games are played on half-ice with no scorekeeping and no penalties. Didsbury Minor Hockey hosts an annual U9 Tournament the first weekend in January.

Our U11 Division (also known as Atom) are for boys and girls aged 9-10. U11 takes the basic skills learned in previous age divisions and takes them to full ice games. Kids reconnect with teammates, increase self-confidence and experience personal achievement, all through fun and fair play. The U11 teams are part of the Central Alberta Hockey League (CAHL) and play other teams from central Alberta, occasionally travelling approximately 1-2 hours (at the most) for gameplay.
The U11 season runs from the beginning of October with Conditioning Camp and Evaluations and completes at the end of March. U11 teams have two 1-hour practices per week with one to two games (home/away) on weekends. Games are played on full ice, keeping score, and implementing penalties and offside icing calls. The U11 division is eligible for playoffs. Didsbury Minor Hockey hosts an annual U11 Tournament the second weekend in November.

To initiate the registration process, please ensure that you have your child's valid Hockey Canada ID number. If you have already enrolled your child with Hockey Alberta, you can easily access the ID number by logging into the Respect and Sport website https://hockeyalbertaparent.respectgroupinc.com.
If you are a new member of Hockey Alberta, we kindly ask that you obtain your child's Hockey Alberta number by contacting our Registrar at registrar.dmha@gmail.com.
